Wagga Termites – Be On the Lookout Around Your Home
Amalgamated Pest Control Riverina was called out to this property in Wagga to conduct a treatment for the control of spiders for the homeowner.
Whilst carrying out a routine site assessment prior to treatment, our technician noticed that the pergola frame was in pretty bad shape. Upon further inspection of the pergola our technician discovered that there was actually active subterranean termites in the Pergola.
The occupant of the home had no idea that termites were active in the pergola.
As you can see with this pergola, it is attached directly to the structure which means that once termites are in the pergola they can make their way straight into the structure.
Fortunately for this home owner, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
Once our technician made this discovery he pointed it out to the client who had no idea about termites being active on the property.
How Amalgamated Pest Control solved the termite problem
They have not had a Timber Pest Inspection in around 4 years. Due to the fact that our technician found these termites prior to the treatment, he did not carry out the spider treatment.
It was more crucial to complete a timber pest inspection first.
The golden rule for termites is do not disturb the activity until the full extent of the infestation is known. This applies to homeowners and it also applies to professional pest managers. Conducting the spider treatment could and probably would disturb this activity making it harder and potentially more expensive to treat.
The technician conducted a full inspection of the property and found that the infestation was only localised to this area and the termites had not entered the house as yet.
Once the inspection was completed we put together a full Property Management Plan for the client.
Over the next several weeks we attended the property multiple times to treat the termite activity and ensure it was removed from the pergola and kept checking the home to ensure that they hadn’t moved into the main structure.
